PUBLIC HEARING MINUTES-LOCAL LAW #1 of 2023: A Local Law Repealing Local Law #1 of 2005 and enacting a property Tax Exemption for Volunteer Firefighters and Ambulance Workers Pursuant to section 466-1 of the Real Property Tax Law of the Code of Town of Forestport.

CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called to order at 6:15 pm by Supervisor Entwistle
LEGAL NOTICE:
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Town Board of the Town of Forestport will be holding a Public Hearing on March 15, 2023, at 6:15 PM at the Forestport Town Hall, 10275 State Rte.28, Forestport, NY, 13338. The Public Hearing is being held to review and accept public comments regarding proposed Local Law #1 of 2023 “A Local Law Repealing Local Law #1 of 2005 and enacting a property Tax Exemption for Volunteer Firefighters and Ambulance Workers Pursuant to section 466-1 of the Real Property Tax Law of the Code of Town of Forestport.”

PUBLIC COMMMENTS:
Art Gleasman, from the Gallery asked if this applies to the school taxes, Supervisor Entwistle stated he did not know. Supervisor Entwistle stated you get a 10% reduction in your assessed value, so it would apply to Town/County Taxes and may apply to school taxes. Art Gleasman, from the Gallery stated the Firefighters get a $200.00 tax credit and you can’t take both.

ADJOURNMENT:
A motion was made by Councilwoman Verschneider and seconded by Councilwoman Abrial to adjourn the meeting.

There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 6:30 pm by Supervisor Entwistle.
