PUBLIC NOTICE 2027 Budget Workshop

The Town of Forestport is currently seeking applicants for a position on the Planning Board of Appeals. The position is for a three-year term, and applicants are required to conduct site visits of properties under application review prior to each month’s meetings.
Applicants must be 18 years of age, a resident of the Town of Forestport, and must complete four hours of NYS training annually. Members receive a monthly stipend of $100-200 for their time.
Interested parties should submit a letter of interest to Sandy Pascucci, Planning Clerk, at planning@townofforestport.gov, or may mail them to her attention at Po Box 137 Forestport, NY 13338. Applications should be received no later than October 1, 2026.

A defensive driving class has been scheduled for Monday, October 12th and Tuesday October 13th, 12:30-4pm both days at the Forestport Town Hall, 10275 State Route 28,Forestport.  $25/members and $30/non-members. Sign up with Bill Chappell at 315-367-2149.

OLD FORESTPORT DAYS – Friday August 28 and Saturday August 29, 2026
This 21st Annual Old Forestport Days and the Town’s 156th Birthday Event kicks off Friday night with the inaugural Town sponsored 5k Run/Walk at 6 PM along with a Kids Fun Run. The Forestport Volunteer Fire Department is also on board Friday Night with an “All You Can Eat” Chicken Riggie Dinner starting at 4:30 PM. The Top 3 in the race will get a complimentary dinner. In addition, the Fire Department is sponsoring a Cornhole Tournament starting at 6:30 PM at the Firehouse. The Basket raffles will be open for bidding at the Friday night festivities.
Saturday fun starts early at 7 AM with the Town sponsored Fishing Derby – open for all ages and ending at 1 PM, and then at 10 AM the Car Cruise-In starts, coordinated by local residents Jim and Joan Snook – all vehicles are welcome. Check out the huge array of Basket Raffles at the Forestport Fire House. There are also the Firemen’s raffle for the top three winners – this year the winner gets a Hustler Raptor X, Zero-Turn Mower – 54” Deck – $5 per ticket.
The Model T Club will again come and visit to show off their antique cars.
The Forestport Firemen’s Famous Chicken BBQ will be ready at 12 Noon along with the Beer Garden and Firehouse Kitchen specials. There are many Vendors who will display and sell their wares this year. Basket bowls made out of clothesline, one of a kind creations, cotton candy, popcorn, photos are just a small sampling of what will be offered.
Always popular – the Town wide garage sales and Thrift Shop bargains at both Churches – St. Patrick’s on River Road and the Forestport Presbyterian Fellowship Hall on Woodhull Road. These sales start on Friday August 28.
This year our Dutch Hill Ballfield is again the location for the Annual Lucas Lawrence Memorial SLOW PITCH Tournament which kicks off on Friday at 6:30 PM with a Home Run Derby. The festivities and Slow Pitch games end on Sunday August 30.
The Kids Fun Zone is again coordinated by Ashley Galligan located at the Memorial Park on Woodhull Road. She will direct imaginative and active play from 11 AM until 2 PM. Kids can enjoy the Bounce House in the KIDS Zone compliments of Tyler and Tracy Terry and Ice Cream compliments of the Kayuta Drive In.
This year’s Cooking Contest is coordinated by Cindy Combs with continuing to honor the memory of the late coordinator Clare Rieben at Scooter’s – River Road, Forestport. This year’s category is “Meatball Madness” and the judging starts at 1 PM. Bring you prepared entry to Scooter’s.
Watch the NO BULL Line Dancers show their skills during their dance demonstration at 2:30 PM near the Firehouse.
And join in on the Historic Hike to see the infamous Forestport Break. This hike starts – 3 PM – at the Dutch Hill access point to the Black River Towpath and will be led by Glenn and JoAnn Ballard and Jeannie “Beep” Wolcott. It’s an out and back hike – 1.5 miles each way and Dave Esch will be on hand to shed some light on how he discovered the “Break”.
The Annual FIREMEN’s ANNUAL PUBLIC WATER BALL starts at 3 PM in front of the Firehouse. This competition is so much fun and a great way to cool off.
Food Trucks will be available for evening dining on River Road.
Kids will enjoy a Bounce House at the Firehouse and Matt Grainger is the featured musician there starting at 5 – 7 PM.
Stick around for the lively eclectic music of Jake Lozzo’s Band at Scooter’s at 7 PM and the festival ends with the town-sponsored MAJESTIC FIREWORKS SHOW at quarter past dark..…
Happy 156th Birthday Town of Forestport – with an event that captures the spirit of community support and fun and serves as a MAJOR fundraiser for the Forestport Volunteer Fire Department.

They will be disseminated to the board members, and duly addressed for the record at the meeting.
